Are you stuck in our catalogue, not knowing what size ceiling fan to choose?

When choosing a fan, most people start with the design, the finish, the blades and the overall look. But before settling on a style, it’s worth thinking about something a little more practical: the size of the fan and the efficiency of the airlow. A fan that’s too small won’t circulate enough air. Too large, and it can overpower the room visually. The right ceiling fan should feel balanced in the space while quietly moving air throughout the room. Start with the size of the room.

Ceiling fans are measured by their blade span.

As a simple room sizing guideline:
Small rooms (up to about 10 m²)
A fan around 100 – 110 cm is usually perfect for smaller bedrooms, studies, or home offices.
Medium rooms (10–20 m²)
Most bedrooms and living rooms work well with a fan around 120 – 132 cm.
Large rooms (20 m² and above)
Open-plan areas and larger living spaces benefit from fans 140 cm or larger so that enough air moves across the room.
For very large spaces, two fans placed strategically can sometimes work better than one oversized fan.

Consider the ceiling height
Ceiling height also plays an important role in how effectively a fan works.
For standard ceilings, a flush mount ceiling fan (like our beautiful Hygge) keeps the fan compact while still allowing good airflow. This type of low-profile fan is ideal for bedrooms and spaces with slightly lower ceilings.
If the ceiling is higher, a downrod installation (like our signature Levante) helps position the fan lower in the room so the air can circulate properly.
Ideally, the blades should sit around 2.4 to 2.7 metres above the floor for the best airflow. Our ceiling fans come with two different downrod sizes, so you’re always given options!

Comfort that feels effortless
When the size, placement, and design all work together, a ceiling fan simply becomes part of the room. It moves air quietly in the background while adding a subtle design element to the space. And often, that gentle circulation of air is all a room needs to feel comfortable!
